    [CQ] MX-C402 smudging

I have a Sharp MX-C402 that is leaving smudges on copies and prints. The machine has up to date firmware, new fuser, developing unit, drum, transfer belt and transfer belt cleaning blade. The fuser is set to 23/28 pound paper.

Are the smudges consistant? Do they repeat down the page? or are they randomly on page?

        Is it an individual color?

Try Sim 64-4 for individual colors and change setting 1 to 3 and than run sim.

I am getting the same thing on Sharp MX565. Did you solve this problem?

I put a mark on the edge of the paper in the spots where the smudge appears. Then roll the paper up with the lines on the edge lined up together. Then see what roller, drum ect is that diameter.

The issue I was having was caused by the cleaning pads in the fuser. It is a completely different design. Is your machine using OEM or compatible toner? I have had issues with compatible toner having a different melting point and causing smudging in the fuser.
