A lot of questions come to mind.

You say that it was another laser. Does that mean new, refurbished, used-known good, used-unknown (possibly no-good)?

        If this laser came from another copier, did it come from a AR-M280N, AR-M350N, AR-M450N, AR-M355N, AR-M455N, MX-M355N, MX-M455N?
Only the AR-M450N laser will work. All the others are different, too different.

It can be difficult to seat those ribbon cables just right. Or one of the conductors could peel away from the backing, and not make a connection. Ribbon cables are not repairable. If damaged replace it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If you have moved the external board for the ccd.loosen one of the screws and move the board slightly [only a hair at a time]
You can correct the e7 problem.
I assume you have replaced the polygon motor.
The board can be easily knocked out of place by just mishandling
            the laser unit.

I have always replaced these lasers as complete units. If there are any interchangable parts I am not aware of them. =^..^=

There is a small screw that secures the laser unit on the top and that originally had the blue glue on it, make sure this screw is not tightened fully, and make sure the LSU height is adjusted.
