    MX7040/MX7580 sec transfer belt rips

Still having a lot of trouble with secondary transfer belts ripping on these machines.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Yesterday i had to replace one that had been in the machine for only 4 days!

    No idea what causes this...

In my experience I have seen 2 things cause this. 1st, check the primary transfer belt cleaning assembly is not binding up. I have had this on more than one occasion. The cleaning assembly will bind up the rest of the belt causing the secondary to slip and eventually rip. The second cause that i have only seen once is the right door being bent and not closing correctly.

I agree as this model has a tendency to clog in the waste toner tubes. Also make sure the main, front door is not clogged. I have seen this a few time and you will actually find a METAL auger, metal is so rare in this day and age.

The other thing to check is the sep finger on the IT belt. This is to be replaced when the IT belt is replaced. If your tears are right down the center, this finger is the most likely cause.

I have also seen this when techs don't powder both belts and blades properly.
