Turn off maintenance/PM-indication in the display.

Hi.

Is it possible to turn off the popup box that comes up in the display when any maintenance part reaches 100%?

Thinking of the heating station where it often holds well over the maintenance cycle.
This is both an aspect of the environment and the economy.
Do not want to zero the counter for a maintenance unit because then I do not know how far the unit has actually run.

Tested to set up SIM 21-1 A and B to 999K but I dont think its the right place.

It is right to set SIM 21-1 A and B to 999K.
But the PM counter counts downwards, not upwards.


Even if you set SIM 21-1 A and B to 999K, the PM counter will count down from 150K.
It is only when you zero the PM counter for a part that it will start counting down from 999K.


So from today all our brand new SHARP machines will be set to 999K in SIM 21-1 A and B, then zero all PM parts in SIM 24-4.
However, the question is whether it is good to zero developer in SIM 24-5 ... Must check out so there will be no fault in this.


On our older machines that are already out at the customer we simply have to set 999K and realize that it is first when we zero the PM parts when replacing the part which they will start counting down from 999K.

SIM 21-1 A B only sets the TA and CA counters...

So resetting the counters on drums etc istn much use i'm guessing...

I'd just like the pop-ups to go away, so the client istn bothered with these.

I have checked that this is true.

I have on a machine set SIM 21-1, A & B to 999K.
Replace all drums and MK kits for cyan, magnets, yellow and black.
Clear these parts under SIM 24-4.

After about three months I was with the customer again.
I print out a 6-22 page and check the status of all drums and MK kits.
The counter for the color drums and MK kit was about 30,000 pages.
Under "LIFE", these parts were 3%.

This means that 1% is 10,000 pages.
100% * 10,000 pages = 1,000,000 pages.


The counter for the black drum and MK kit was 50,000 pages.
Under "LIFE" these were 5%.

This means that 1% is 10,000 pages even there.
Thus, the black drum and MK kit are also 1,000,000 pages at 100%.

This means that the popup window will never come up until the parts begin to approach 999K.


It is also written in the service manual that to set SIM 21-1 A & B will change when the PM warning comes up:

Function: Used to set the maintenance cycle.

Operation/Procedure

* Do not change the default setting value of the maintenance
counter on SIM21-1. The replacement timing of the fusing cleaning
roller, the filter and PS paper dust removal cleaner may not
clarify

This also applies to drums and more as I can see.

FYI you can skip doing pms to supposedly save money and sure you dont have to replace dv......BUT your toner life will drop to nothing and you will end up spending what you would have saved on the extra toner. Bottom line do the pm as listed in the book. There are some hidden sims that can confirm the toner life per cartridge and coverage to track the decline.

I have checked that SIM 21-1 A and B to 999K will extend the PM intervals to 999K for all PM parts.

I was with a customer where the machine needed to change all four drums and MK kits.
When I changed this I first put in SIM 21-1 A and B to 999K.
Then I cleared the PM parts I had changed during 24-4.

After about 3 months the customer had reported for a paper stop.
When I was there I wrote out a list in SIM 22-6.

There I saw that cyan, magenta and yellow drum and MK kits have used 30,000 copies.
This was counted as 3% of the PM intervals according to the list.

This means that 1% is 10,000 copies. And 100% * 10,000 copies = 1,000,000 copies. Thus, I have extended the PM interval for all PM parts.

Checked black drum and MK kit. They had used 50,000 copies and this was counted as 5% of the PM intervals. This will also be 1% to 10,000 copies.

Regarding the developer that repn1999 mentions, it often goes beyond the standard PM interval. Far above.
I have been working in this branch since August 1999 and am fully aware that a worn out developems dust the entire machine and also eats more toner.
It is therefore a pity that it is not possible to set the PM intervals for each PM part. Many other brands than Sharp work to set the PM intervals for each PM part.
Worked with Ricoh as a PP technician for about 5 years before I went over to Sharp. And it was very easy to set up each part separately.
Above all, it was possible to shut down which PM parts would be warned and which parts would not be warned.

This must work for so long. As long as I have control over the condition of the developer and how good the drum charge is, I will change it when it is really needed.
