[CQ] AR-M257 dark front side of image ADF only

Pages from internal are fine . With original on glass , letter wide , any reduction , letter wide out , even did a ledger size reduced 64% , all fine . If using the ADF , there is a dark shading area on the copy when it comes out on the front side of the image , part of image edge closest to the front of the copier , did a 64% page through feeder , dark area was still on image but properly reduced . Cleaned all optics , checked under CCD or CIS cover , all looked fine there . All mirrors looked oriented properly . Has anyone seen this ? Thanks in advance , Ark .

Wow, that copier is almost 20years old! Check the doc feeder hinges, make sure they are tight, if not broken, and make sure they are in their proper alignment positions.

Have you tried calibrating per manual?

I have seen this exact problem. It was doc feed. Where the hinges screw in to doc feed the plastic was cracked. It caused the doc feed to warp a little. If I held down on the front left side of doc feed it copied with out the shading. The down side is to fix you have to replace the doc feed frame (all one piece). I don't know if it is still available.

You know I remember that! The rear right hinge holder WOULD break!

          It's been a while. [emoji57]
