Hello,
I'm having some trouble reinstalling firmware on a Sharp MX-4101N and hoping for some assistance.
As background, I am a computer technician and recently started working for a new department which primarily uses Sharp MFPs. I have more experience with Xerox and HP. One of my first assignments was to prepare several Sharps for surplus, which per our department policy is to pull the HDDs, DBAN them, reinstall, and then ensure that they can still pass paper. This worked for three, but I'm having trouble with this last 4101N.
With instructions from other threads in this forum, I found the procedure for an emergency firmware reinstall using a USB flash drive. The company with which we have a service agreement gave me some firmware files for my other 4101N, but none of the firmware files they gave me worked for the last one. I do think it has a DSK installed.
The three firmware files I was given look like this:
I've tried all three (renamed to emupdate_J2.sfu) one at a time, and I consistently see the following after powering up.
I tapped the Job Status button on the control panel which cycled through the following information, I'm not sure if it's helpful.
So I guess my question is... is there a different firmware file I'm missing that someone could share with me? The service company said they only had those three available. If not, is there something else I should be doing? If there was a DSK installed, did I screw up the system by DBAN'ing the hdd?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
