    Getting back to work

Hi ya'll, its been a while, for a while was not sure I would ever be back turning screws on copiers, well I found a new place, started Monday, first day riding with another tech, showing me the ropes of how they do the calls, remote tech and all that, its a dealer that is pretty much Sharp, which is great, I started off on Sharps way back in 1999, so its like coming home.
But for last 2 years, worked some part time stuff, and tried to keep my side line going as a main line, arts and crafts custom woodworking, lately its been cutting boards and turned bowls, but not many buying stuff don't help,
So anyway, today being first day to really be back at the tools again, felt great, but for 7 years before COVID struck us, I worked for a Toshiba dealer, and something I noticed, some of the Sharp machines I was working on, with the other tech looking on, they have a distinct Toshiba look about them, I dont recall any model numbers right now, its all been a crazy last couple days, will try to make note of models, but they are new ones within the last year or so at a local school district, I guess what I am asking, is Sharp using some Toshiba boxes and putting there user interface on them?
It did feel good to be back at it again too.

I talked with a Toshiba dealer years ago and was told the high speed Toshiba is a Sharp machine. Not the Sharp machine being a Toshiba, I believe it is the Hercules 2 machine the MX-M905/1205. The high speed Toshiba Color is a Canon machine if I remember right.

I can tell you that a couple of the old Toshibas were actually Sharp re-badges. The one that comes to mind is the Panther eS161 and Jaguar eS120/150/151/162. Toshiba didn't load any of their own operating system or software. It was Sharps original operating system.

Those are the only ones that I know of. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I know Sharp uses or did use Toshiba HDD and they have a high failure rate. I remember back in the early 90's Xerox would rebadge the SF-2114 models.

To my knowledge Sharp makes al their equipment except for the recently introduced A4 rebadged Lexmarks. I think the last Toshiba was the AR-651 and AR-810 which was many years ago. I still have one. It sat in the front window for years but was replaced with this.

Toshibas 907, 1057, and 1207 are Sharp Hercules 2 machines. Use Sharp simulations and accessories, basically a Sharp with a Toshiba sticker.

Pretty bad models as I can remember although my Toshiba knowledge time is almost over nowadays.

We called them "Jam-o-matics". The "D" shaped feed rollers and spring loaded trays could jam almost any media. And they didn't age very gracefully. The frame where the fuser mounted would dry out and shatter. Either you could hear the fuser drive skipping on arrival, or when you tried to reinstall the fuser screws the upper frame just shattered into small bits. They had a very poor track record with lasers too. I don't miss them a bit.

After years of working on these machines I knew exactly what was wrong with it ... but couldn't necessarily fix it. =^..^=
