Changed drum, developer main charger and one of those usually takes care of problem. Swapped out entire process unit from good copy quality machine. Haven't swapped out dv unit which I will do next. Is this possibly an LSU problem? I haven't checked doctor blade gap yet though I doubt that is problem as haven't had to do that in years. Any help is always and forever appreciated. Sounds to me that just cleaning the laser glass above the drum will probably help. If the developer is old, the toner could be clouding up to the glass. Also check the developer seal. It might be letting toner get past it to the glass. If it is the glass cleaning it should show a vast improvment right away.I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.Comment

Thanks for your quick response guys. I cleaned the slit glass above drum but didn't do a 64-01 printer function sim.The machine is in a pretty clean environment so not apt to get any extra dust like a garage/warehouse or woodworking place. Will try getting back this week as customer is not too disturbed about problem. It bothers me more than customer. I will post results when eventually it is resolved or leave you guys the call in my will. FrankComment

We had a smaller Sharp digital machine in a doctor's office. It was brought to us multiple times for light copy on the edge. Some kind of white powder in their environment kept getting into the LSU and onto the polygon motor surfaces. The powder was on the edges of the surface farthest away from the motor. Traces of powder were seen in the filter on the machine but nothing obvious - the machine appeared to be clean and in a clean environment.Comment
