    mx5500-mx7001 fuser

I can't see any real difference between the MX700FU1 and the MX701FU1. I have one of each in the same office and I'd like to swap them for trouble shooting purposes. Will I get away with it?
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

In a word, no, rollers are the same, web unit is the same, over all fuser unit is not, the 701 has a soloniod that takes presure off the sep pawls on either upper or lower roller, cant recall which one it is.
Learned the difference the hard way.

Bummer. It would have made things alot easier. I wish we had either more of these machines or none. We only have one of each. Thanks for the info.

Yes, Vincent is right. The fuser units are close, but not interchangeable. I also tried that a few years ago. The rear-frame cover of the fuser is actually moulded different as well, so it sits on the pull-out plate in a different position. That cover has to be changed over for the fuser unit to even fit correctly to start with. (You will notice a V moulded into the plastic on the Venus cover).

Other that that, you can get away with everything else, except the dev units, developer & K toner. This issue has been argued about here before, but I assure you that both transfer belt units are interchangeable in the C-Dragon & Venus. I do this every week. Whatever is available in the warehouse at the time, is what is used in the field. The CMY drum units can also be replaced with the usual Pastel1/C-Jupiter1 drum units too (Big time saver!).

Does this mean that the MX-70NVSA & the MX-71NVSA are not interchangable ? We used a 71NVSA in a 5500N & I'm having problems with the developer. I'm thinking that's why.
          Hope that helps !

That is the biggest no-no of all time!

The C-Dragon & Venus developers are not interchangable in any way!

I once went to a call with massive overtoning (almost to the point the K dev unit was totally seized up with excess toner, almost solid black pages) due to C-Dragon dev installed in a Venus by another tech (accidentally).

Yes Tony, they are different. Must use correct dev in these machines. Everything except devs, dev units, K toner & fuser is interchangeable between these series.

Thanks Waz, that's what I was afraid of. I asked my tech if he changed the DV since I was unsure. He said he used the 71NVSA. That's when we started looking into it. I've got new DV coming in the AM !
              Thanks !!
