    [Jamming] MX5500 POD1_N on warmup

I have a customer with a MX-5500, about 2 years old with ~200k on it. Every morning, as it finishes warming up, it pops a POD1_N jam. It also does this whenever the machine is rebooted, or left open long enough it has to go through a full warmup cycle. It always clears as soon as you open and close the side door.
Mechanically, I can find nothing wrong with the lever, no sticking, no warping, no wear on the flag. I have replaced the actual photosensor itself, as I know sitting on top of the fuser can make them go wonky over time. I can test it in simulation and it always operates perfectly.
Unfortunately, we no longer have access to the support website or hotline, so if there's a mod or firmware upgrade related to this, I'm not aware of it. I can still get parts and supplies, however. (Don't ask me, I stay out of the politics!)
    Any thoughts?

The problem should be related to any one of the contact or non-contact thermsiters or one of the thermistats has popped.

I have had this before on a C-Dragon, and in my case it was one of the thermistats under the front cover of the fuser had popped. Other guys have had blown thermisters do this as well.
You would think that these cases would produce a H2/H3/H4 code, but in the case of a C-Dragon or Venus that jam codes on warmup, if it works OK after opening/closing the main side door, the fuser has rerached operating temperature & has reset the false jam code (given by the fact something has tripped out).

Its fuser unit related. Check all thermistats have not popped, the contact thermisters are touching the rollers, the non contact thermisters are seated OK and not dirty and also check sim 44-14 to see if any temp sensor is misbehaving (giving a clearly wrong temperature reading during warmup... thats the one that is faulty).

Thanks, Wazza. I'll give that a look next I'm there.

As it turns out, a screw had backed out of one of the non-contact thermistors, so it was sitting out of place. Reseated it, cln'd them all to boot, and shazam, no more jamming on warmup. Thanks again.

Ha.. Nice fix! It had to be one of them in the fuser.
