    dxc 380 scanning

i am setting up a dxc380 to print and scan to folder.no problems in setting up copier or pc.when the image send button is selected on the copier ops panel a message in a red box appears which says 'this machine is in the pc scan mode. do not remove original' if the exit button is pressed the message changes to 'pc scan in progress'.

i've set up lots of these and all other sharp models to scan smb but never had this message.

sharp have not got back to me and our it team is in the pub.

anyone out there seen this please?

Have you hit this thing with the latest firmware?

There was some issues on the MXB401 using "Long Size" original size when scanning causing the machine to lockup.

Bill, PC Scan mode is for TWAIN scanning. I just set one up to TWAIN last week & that's how you have to do it. My guess is that TWAIN is set as the default scan, but I'd have to get in front of one to figure it out.
      Hope that helps !

I noticed the Twain scanning on the install disk. Never used it. Is it a dumbed down version of the network scanner tool that sharp desk uses to receive scan jobs?

No, the NST uses FTP as a protocol. TWAIN is a protocol for scanning images into applications. It's not used a whole lot anymore. In this case, an insurance company uses it to scan barcoded document back to a server to be routed appropriately. It's more labor intensive as it's a pull scan. Go to MFP, put in scan mode, load documents, go back to PC start scanning process, go back to MFP to get documents.
