    [CQ] ARM207

    Hey guys,

Is it me or has the AR168 to the ARM160 all the way to the ARM207's copy quality always sucked? Right out of the box the prints are great but then you copy it and it looks washed out. You throw a Densigraphix chart on with that bit of gloss and the black squares have very obvious white speckles in them. Ive tried using 600 dpi, bumping the exposure and nothing really seems to affect it that much.

Any body else seen this or have any magical fixes im not thinking of?

I dont touch them, so I'm not aware of this problem, but I have heard of them set as 'text' mode as default instead of 'auto'. Plenty of them come back through the warehouse when client gets upgraded to a color box, and I have helped with their cleanup. Just something I've noticed & heard about. The b/w guys must set this up as a new default at most places.

    Maybe worth a try too???

Take a look at gamma, in 46-??. As a standard part of setup on most b&w we bumped up gamma a little to fill in the black areas. IIRC the default is around 60, and we would bump them 10 points or so. Sorry for the lack of detail. I've had an unscheduled change of PC. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hey Wazza, I put it text mode and there is a noticable difference in the solids. I just setup a MXM200D and it was the same thing. In AE a test chart did not look quite right. The blacks did not stand out. I put it in text mode and it made a beautiful copy so i set that as the default. Only thing i worry about is if this will be a bit harder on the consumables making such heavy blacks.

        Thanks!

Nice one. I only mentioned it as a passing thought, as I'd seen alot of ours come back with those settings.
Glad it helped you out bro.

It wouldn't be any harder on the consumables other than abit more toner use, thats it. Drum blade still has to do the same job wether its low or high density toner.
