    mx5000

    hi all ,
having a problem with a mx5000 dev unit, causing lines on copies & prints.
dev bed on the mag roller being seperated in small lines two or three. have replaced dev
unit and dev with new, but turning unit by hand the new unit was also doing this.Have not
touched surface of mag roller and the only way i could inprove it was by cleaning with a clean cloth, but i am still not happy with this, has anyone had a problem like this?

Do you mean something blocking the doc blade causing dev void lines around the mag roller?

There are no issues that I'm aware of, other than the required fitting of the upper cover seal (PSEL-0966FCZ1), although this has nothing to do with your particular problem.

Are you using genuine Sharp dev & toner?
How long until this fault develops after installing new dev?
Has the machine got the lastest firmware installed & correctly calibrated to prevent over-toning?

The only thing that would cause this in a new dev unit with new developer installed in that dev unit is either a foreign substance accidentally mixed in with the dev (eg carpet fibres, hair, part of the dev bag) or a poorly calibrated machine that is overtoning, causing dev/toner to clump and block the doc blade.

Did you run 44-27 and then fully calibrate after installing new developer? This is quite important.
Is the machine in a hot or humid environment?

              I agree with Wazza....
My first impression is that you may have placed the dev unit near a staple of sorts ?
Or dev-toner clumps on the dev-unit from a wharehouse old stock bag of dev.
How long has the bag of dev been sitting in the service division hot vehicle ?
I hope you don't have hot weather 35-40deg like we do in summer here in OZ.
