MX-3500 color isssues -grainy sky and some graininess on people

    Using all OEM supplies

I know that in general these machines don't do as well on blue skies as desired. This real estate company gets nice prints on warm color interiors but skies and people shots and where there is solid grey stripes or blue hue stripes there is also pixel-ation or what some may say is graininess.

We have done full color calibration, played with density - all of which helped a little but still when compared to their other branch office's HP CLJ5550, there is a world of difference.

WE explained the difference of commercial copiers vs graphics printers etc.
All in all we are trying to help them get better quality. ANY HELP appreciated!!!

Try setting the print driver to 4 bit. will help with a lot of digital camera pics. Set it as a default using printing preferences, the bit setting is in the color tab, inside advanced color.
Where the heck is my spring hook?

What type of paper are they using? Have you tried setting a different target during calibration?
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

We will try the 4 bit suggestion.

Paper - we have tried several types - glossy regular 99 bright etc.
No didn't try different target yet - when we did initial color calibration the result using the 11X17 Sharp test sheet with the daisy picture etc. looked as good as I've seen (we have 2 - 2700 and 3 3500's that we service) I'll look into different target when we go and also check out the 4 bit

        Thanks!!!

They are all goods answers but here is another one that might make it slightly better, I had a customer (estate agent) with a mx2300 and i used a mx2301 driver which made it a bit better not alot but slightly so you could try the new version of the mx3500

One of our techs that retired awhile back told us there was a guy "wassa" that had posted useful information on color issues and especially regarding cyan not filling like the other colors.

I found very little regarding wassa in searching - seems as if he disappeared - and all his posts with him??? Has he gone for good? Our tech seemed to think very highly of his information/inputs.

Anyone remember what he shared re cyan issues?

              Thanks

You could also try changing to DEF 3, which is more of a cyan (SIM 67-26.) Redo your 50-22, make sure your value is less than 1 for all 3 colors and then your 46-24 and your 67-24. Only other thing I can think of is doing the density adjustment with the jig and doing the calibration again. Good Luck.
