You realize that every copier must have some sort of toner detection. It's so basic, do I even need to bring it up?
It sounds to me like your trying to fix symptoms, not causes. Maybe you should find out why you're getting toner add indications. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

On the MX-2300N's and most of the MX's, you can change test command 26-69 and disable detection. So I suggest make sure you know what you are stating.Comment

Does this message appear at all times or only when toner is low? If at all times, then yes, troubleshoot the problem. If it is only when the toner is actually low, there are soft switch settings to change when the message is displayed.

The soft switches are sim 66-xx, and only related to fax functions. This is not the worst manual I've ever read, but close. There isn't any sort of description of the toner low/toner empty criterion.
On the one occasion that I addressed an Add Toner indication that wouldn't clear, after the developer and developing unit, the fix was the MCU.
