    SHARP MX-2700N clearing of code......

    SHARP MX-2700N threw a L4-31 code (paper exit cooling fan trouble) and I am failing at finding a sim code to reset that so I can even run a 22-06 (data print). Is there a soft switch I am looking for to allow the copier to keep going until I can see about another fan ect?

    Sorry if I am blind to the service manual....

      AFAIK, no, there is no way around the fan error, without replacing the fan. You can install a similar fan so the board sees a 24vdc load, with a few mA draw. All you need to do is approximately match up the vdc and mA specs, and of course the connector. It should work ... =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          If you remove the exit unit above the fuser and spin the fans by hand, and they spin freely,you can just clean the lint and dirt off the blades and housing, blow out the motors and they may run Ok until
          you can get new ones. I have 2 sets that have been running a long time after cleaning them.

              Apparently the units can go bad, as evidenced by our supplier having 14 of them in stock. Replaced the unit but it has no guildines on where to place it....in other words, it matches up with a sawtooth gear but does not tell me where "home" is, so unit is now misfeeding.

              Anyone replace this dual fan unit and have any tips on that part?

                  Your paper exit cooling fan has a timed gear drive ... and is now causing jamming? Wow! am I confused. This doesn't sound like any copier fan that I've heard of. And you don't know where to place it? How about the place you removed the old one from? If you're not sure which fan, maybe a service manual might be a good place to look. =^..^=

                      the only thing that I can think you are talking about is if there is a finisher/paper pass unit you need to lock the offset unit by fitting the '"arm" into the lock piece when you reinstall the exit unit of the copier that has the ccoling fans in it.

                          Have all the manuals ect...I think I have determined what the prob was....the fan unit sits above the paper exit and has all the wiring and harnesses for the motors on the exit unit. It looks like one of the wire guides broke apart from it's slot and allowed itself to "float" so far that it must be interfering with the paper path.

                          Not something you could see once put back in ect....

                          The replaced fan unit looks like it's enclosure warped a bit from the heat so one of the fans was actually rubbing its blades on the frame and therefore was stopped from turning. Might shave or sand the frame down and use this as a backup.
