F2-40 means there is too much toner in the developer unit. Go into SIM 7-1, DV CHECK DISABLE, execute machine will reboot. Lift the ADF lid and run 150-200 sky shots. Pull the toner cart and run SIM 25-1. The number must be above 73 for the code to go away. If the skyshots do not work, the mix is too far gone and the developer material will need to be changed.

What model? The AR-M287 -407 had a foam toner add roller that would deteriorate. When adding a new toner supply to the machine, the force of the new toner rushing in would by-pass the toner add roller and go right into the DV box. Sometimes you can get them working again by doing the sky shots as decribed above. You should place a blank piece of paper on the machine on the copy lead edge to prevent jamming. If it is one of these machines, it is a messy job to replace the roller.
