[Misc] Sharp AR M620 U Gears are binding around process unit...

Is there a common problem for this. I actually had the problem with this same machine at this location (Abstract office) and cleaned the waste toner recycle path and it would work for awhile. Finally replaced this unit that had 700k with a new one, same model, w 100k. Was Hoping that would solve this problem now it appears it is happening again. Thinking customer is copying with adf hood up but they say their not.
Any help is really appreciated... Thankyou

this is common for these machine. i actually have customers checking the waste box on the toner from time to time to make sure it isnt getting full.

what will cause this is overdue maintance.

    or

there was also a firmware update that addressed this issue also , this cut down on alot of the calls for the waste backed up and noise, but still happens every now and then

Thanks so much for your reply... These are great machines. Not much of a fan on the recycle part of it...

What "recycle part" are you talking about? The waste toner does go into the toner bottle but it is separated from the new toner. (at least this is how I understood the process)

I'll confirm that. All these problems began when Sharp increased the volume of the toner cartridge part, but kept the waste volume the same. There is no waste toner level detection, so you just gotta hope that the toner runs out before the waste container fills to the top, then backs up the cleaning auger. Sharp's fix was to reduce the toner coverage, and consequently reduce the amount of waste toner.

This machine would have one less problem if it did recycle. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hmmm, I might be way off on this. I thought the waste toner ran through again. My brain might be jello. I am not sure how I got that idea...
God, I am finally losing my mind... Do they have support groups for techs...

Shhhh! That is one of the secret secondary purposes of Copytechnet. It's really just a big support group. =^..^=

Well, my knot-headness is good for a laugh, I couldn't find the wast toner in the manual and just assumed that with the toner build up problems that it was running back through. And yes, I also in 20 years have not heard of a machine recycling toner. lmao

correct, the used toner does not recycle just gets dumped in that little box on the toner cart.

There are quite a few Ricoh's and KonicaMinolta's etc that recycle toner FYI, and I'm not positive but I believe the AR-M450/M455/MX-M450 will recycle toner to some degree as well as the AR-M317/277/275's. I've never seen their waste box overflow and if you open them up you can see where it can cycle back into the new toner chamber (at least on the AR-310NT's).
Just some useless info for ya!

there are quite a few bulletins on the "Dragon" series machines as to toner dusting in the process unit. here are a couple ideas.
                        NROLN1444FCZ1 Brush roller
                        NSRW-0042FCZZ Waste toner transport screw
these need to be the updated parts.

                        PMLT-1677FCZZ Side seal
                        PMLT-1678FCZZ Side seal R
                        PSHEP5839FCZZ inner seal F
                        PSHEP5838FCZZ inner seal R
these seals need to be updated and replaced
