I have an MX-3110 that is failing during calibration. Initially, it would fail during the copy portion of the calibration. It would print the test patch, then when you went to scan the test patch, it would come back saying place the patch on the glass (yes, it's facing the correct way). We upgraded to latest firmware (08.10.A1) So, we did a CCD calibration using 63-3. I went through all the recommended calibration procedures (jig, 50-22, etc.), then attempted a 46-74. This time, the copy test patch read, and it printed the print test patch, but I got the same failure of not reading the test patch. I attempted another CCD calibration, this time with running a copy calibration using 46-24, which succeeded, and then ran a 67-24 for print calibration, which failed again when trying to read the test patch. A CCD calibration has fixed this in the past, so I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

A SIT chart was used in Sim 63-3 (Sorry, I should have mentioned that. I implied it with 63-3).Comment

Re: MX-3110 Calibration failure-won't read test patch
Why are you attempting to calibrate? Did you just do a maintenance?
I've had machines do this in the past, it would print out and appear fine visually but still refuse to print out the adjusted patch. The solution was to replace the primary transfer belt. I guess it just wasn't able to read it properly for one reason or another.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Re: MX-3110 Calibration failure-won't read test patch
The CCD calibration was because the color calibration would fail (not read the printed test patch), and that has fixed the issue in the past. The attempted color calibration is because of maintenance/poor copy quality.Comment

Re: MX-3110 Calibration failure-won't read test patch
As an aside, on the 3110 series, you can do sim 46-74 which does a complete calibration procedure in one shot as opposed to doing all the separate steps.
What did you replace in your maintenance? Counters?Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Do the test patterns look good? Are the solids nice and solid where they should be?I had on (3610) that had power problems, not have good solids, and do some funny stuff when trying to calibrate.Comment

This next contribution is from a long time friend of Copytechnet:
...... He needs to run the Blk Mag Adjust in 50-28, restart the machine when completed, run Print/Setup adjust also in 50-28, restart the machine, then run the calibration as normal.
The scanner cant read the required area of the print as its either too long or short by required spec. Its seeing the image but advises to place the patches on the glass as it cant read it properly.
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: MX-3110 Calibration failure-won't read test patch
I know this thread is abit old now, but i had exactly the same problem on a 3110, i was told me to jig it with 44-13, then run the sim again with everything back in(transbelt etc). then run through the normal calibration procedure 44-06 etc. i noticed when it did its process control it took a while and started adding toner. The printed sheets from 46-74 looked so much bolder and the mc read the cal page. Copies were sorted after that.Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essentialComment
