    MX-FN22

    Hi
we are having odd jamming issues with the fn22 finisher on a polaris, it is comming up with eratic fs203_n jams.
The sensor has been changed a couple of time s,and has cleared the fault for some weeks. Before it returns,
the black fold roller which it looks at is cleaned regularly and the firmware is up to date.
Anybody had this issue yet ?
I understand that sharp uk are aware of it and are awaiting response from japan.

    Thankyou
Been there, done that, learnt nowt.

    Re: MX-FN22

I asked one of our techs who works on these machines, and this is the answer I was given; I drew up a picture for reference and I'll try to explain as best as I can. I don't work on these so take my advice with a grain of salt.FN22 repair.jpg

This is section 33 of the parts guide for the FN22, the problem lies in the center plate that has no part number. The fix involved bending some of the frame, from what I was told. The goal is to bend it back far enough to allow paper to get through without hitting that plate. The sensor below the target rollers is FSS203 (which is your jam marker). I circled the mylars because I was told they were a contributing factor in the problem, if you have some of your own mylars feel free to make adjustments to better mind the gap until there's a reworked part.

Hope this helps - if it does let me know so I can relay it to my tech and he can put on his big red "S" and blue tights.

The FSS203 sensor has been modified - 0CWFK21772001, but the main culprit is the fact that the only black reference for said sensor is the folding roller... so paper dust etc. cause false positives. Only fix so far is to give the folding roller a good clean each visit. It's easier to clean if you take the cover and plate off first.

        Hi
We have the same problem , Replaced the said sensor and cleaned fold rollers as per CCE-1415 Tech Bulletin and still have the same issue ,our customer only do A5 booklets but jams after a couple have been done, we get FSS203_N which would imply that the paper has not reached the sensor but infact the paper has passed the sensor, with sim 3-2 the sensor checks out ok. It seems if you power cycle the machine and start the job again it seems ok .

This seems to be a intermittent fault which is tricky to diagnose .

I am hoping Sharp will come up with solution soon

I am thinking maybe a firmware update

Please dont bend this plate, make things a lot worse.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

                    Re: MX-FN22

There is a new mod getting tested on the sensors which cause the code. It uses the pressure rollers for the reference as some one has said. There is a little piece of plastic which is fitted over the sensor to skew what is black and not and this has fixed one of our problematic machines but it is still in the test phase as far as im aware.
