2540c Showing 0% Toner and Asking to Install New Toner but Toner Still Full

Hi all - Toshiba 2540c is showing 0% toner and asking for a new toner to be installed despite the current toner being almost full. We have had trouble in the past with toner clumping and have had to rotate the toner agitator manually but it is becoming more and more frequent (daily) that the printer is showing 0%, and is now affecting black and magenta. Watching the toner percentages during a print they are jumping up and down. Almost points to the toner auto sensors but is there anything we can diagnose before this? Thanks for your help!

Is it genuine Toshiba toner? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

... time for a new copier. The e2540c was discontinued in 2013 and is no longer supported by the manufacturer.

Thanks - yes definitely genuine toners. To add we have had issues previously with the agitator motor which has been replaced on black...

toner bottle is pushing forwards and loosing contact with the toner chips reading spring contacts perhaps - clean/stretch the springs..stick a bit of foam on the front door to help push. make sure all the front covers are on correctly and not letting the front door close all the way.
Also could be a packed toner bottle, shake the crap out of them, make sure toner add augers are clear of blockage and are not dragging when they drive and windows are opening properly.

That series was notorious for saying add toner. There was a service bulletin about that, it involved a plastic clip that was placed on the front
side of the frame that holds the toner cartridge. An easy fix is what I did until the bulletin came along. Use a lighter to heat the plastic
clip that holds the cartridge, once warm, use a small screwdriver to pull the clip outward more. Once you get it where you want, take
a can of "dust off" upside down, spray the plastic to cool it down. I did that to a lot of them until the bulleting came out.

Or it may be some toner dusting over the toner drive section on M and K and most likely over the toner circuit board under those contact springs. To get there you need to remove all process units, toner cartridges, transfer belt cleaner unit, front cover and front plastic cover, exit tray cover and each toner drive got a screw and a connector that needs to be removed. On K side you need to remove a metal plate held in one screw to reach the toner driver screw and connector.

I would test the toner motors in Test Mode 03 (remove toner cartridges and cheat front door interlock switch and front cover switch) and also check the gears on M and K toner drives. Most of the time the user who replace the toner doesn't shake it before inserting and if some toner lumps inside may prevent the paddles inside the toner cartridge to turn and break the black gear driven by the toner motor.

As the other guys said, very common to get toner errors on these series.
Defects are simple, our mind is complicated
