Black developer between different models

Hey everyone...looking for some insight from you all. Has anyone tested using new black developer material for other model than what the developer part # is compatible with? Example, using the black developer for a an older model like a E-353 to a E-857 or an E-4508A by making sure it's the correct gram amount of developer for that specific model?
