    Re: 3530c 3540c

These two machines are one generation apart, Masherbrum versus Mash X. Many of the mechanical parts are the same.

I have successfully substituted D-F25C for D-FC28C developer starter.

The EPU units are listed as:
    EPU-FC25-C 6LJ01385300 for eS3540
    EPU-FC28-C 6LJ01385300 for eS3530
... so no, I would not think that you'd have success directly swapping units (but I've never tried it). You can swap different color units of the same type (FC25 or FC28 respectively) by swapping the front cover of the EPU.

If you're just trying to keep a customer temporarily, I think that your best hope is to rent them the working machine. In this way they have encouragement to take some action, instead of waiting until the rental dies too. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Looks like the toner sensor & developer units are the same for the entire series.
The front "color" plates might be different though.

Cancel your service contract and bill this customer for time and materials. They will get the message soon enough and do not upgrade to some other used dog because they are too cheap.
