    e-studio 457 Error message E062

    Hi:

I'm trying to revive an old e-studio 457, have solved most of what's wrong with the old girl, except it keeps jamming when feeding paper from tray 2, Jam occurs when the paper is about 2 inches into the fuser.

I have paper feed rollers coming, tray 1 will only feed when full....if it gets below half I get a feed error. Could this be causing the E062 error on tray 2 as well? Maybe paper isn't being fed in a timely manner?

I'm a PC tech, kind of got wrangled into doing this as a favor, so any help would be appreciated....thanks!

Make sure the size of the paper in the paper tray matches what is set in the LCD panel. There is a mismatch between the two.

Most likely you have two issues:

The first one is the E062, paper size mismatch: Make sure that the paper orientation loaded matches the description listed on the screen. On these older machines you must manually set that paper size in the User Menu. Newer machines automatically identify the paper size by themselves (unless it's disabled).

Once you get that cleared up, you'll be able to get the jam code for the second issue. Come back when you know what that is.

This is extraordinarily common. The enduser experiences jams, so they re-orient the paper. Since the paper size no longer matches every single age jams. Yeah, sure it's illogical. Since when do endusers do logical things? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Another thing to check: remove the tray and look for a white half-moon gear at the back that is part of the paper lift process. If it's cracked where the screw goes through the plastic gear into the shaft or even just stressed and bent then that could explain why it only feeds when the tray is full. That gear often needs replacing on that series. If the paper isn't being lifted all the way or inconsistently then it will cause jamming.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

Appreciate the thought....already double/triple checked that. LT size on tray and LCD panel.

Appreciate the thought....that's the first thing I replaced. The tray lifter gear was broken. Worked a couple of times, then I got the E062 error message....

I'll go through it again tomorrow. It shows LT on the panel, LT-R on the tray.

OK....checked the tray settings on control panel, set for LT (not LT-R). When I try to set it for LT-R on control panel, still get an error. I'm going to install paper rollers and see if that resolves the issue....

Installed new paper rollers in upper and lower trays, everything working fine now. The old girl still has some life in her.....
