It seems that I have had this problem before but cannot figure out how I fixed it. I took the feed assembly out and it appears that all the actuators are working and going int the sensors correctly. The lift tray has no obstructions. The lift motor seems OK also. Not sure whats up. Havent seen one of these in awhile. Any help is very appreciated !!

Re: Estudio 257 Noise when tray lifts (Trys to lift tray to far)
The most likely cause is the sector gear on the back of the paper tray. They are known to split at the mounting screw, shear off the screw, or even have the screw back out a few turns. Also the metal posts that the other gears sit on can bend off-90 degrees and the gears disengage. When you install the new gear use a removeable version of Loctite on the screw threads (I use enamel nail polish for this purpose). The part number for the gear is 6LJ11610000:

Hopefully the one in the picture is just an old picture of the old style gear. The new style gear is black.
There are other possible causes, but this is the most likely. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
