    Estudio 450 HD Format

    Hi All.

Just received a Estudio on trade in. Our cus wants us to format the HD ,however I am not familiar with Toshiba ( Copystar Tech). It would be much appreciated for directions how to do it.

    Thanks

1.) power up in 08 mode, key in 690, enter a 2 if there is not one already there, touch enter.

2.) go into the web access of the copier by entering it's ip into your browser.
admin password is defaulted to 123456
delete anything you see there; fax, smtp, etc...
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

      Will this format the HD?
The cus insists that we not just delete files but format.

08 mode ..is that holding down the bottons while powering up?

      Thanks

That will wipe the Hard Drive of any info from a previous customer. Yes. Hold down 0 and 8 while powering on. then format with 690 and entering 2 as ToshibaTech says. It takes a minute to format then says reboot.

What your customer is probably talking about is the fact that even when you format a HDD the data can still be recovered with the right tools. The best two options to wipe a HDD IMO are either taking it out and handing it to the customer and putting a new one in, or taking it out and using a secure format tool which writes random data over the whole drive 7+ times. Both of these options require reloading firmware on this model though.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

              Thanks Toshibatech & Ceterman..

Since this is our first Toshiba we had with this request we are not geared up to reload firmware.
For now I hope HD format and deleting user data is sufficient ? If it is not ,then I will have to beg, barrow, or steel firmware and reloading procedure.

              Thanks
