estudio 80 and estudio 810 drivers

I have customer that has estudio 80 machine but no 2008 or win 7 64 bit drivers.
Dealer says he has to upgrade machine to an 810 because of drivers.
Won't 810 driver work the same? PCL is PCL and machines are same mechanically just controllers are different.
Am I on the right track with this idea?
    Thanks for any input.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

E-Studio 80 and 810 are completely different, upgrade to an 810? That machine has been out of production for 6 years.

Will the universal driver work in the 80?
I can't see him spending big bucks just cause he can't print.
      Isn't PCL PCL.

Recent operating systems in 32 or 64 bit architecture require different coding to gain access to the copier. Old technology just wont work with the new sometimes. The HP universal driver may work, but no guarantee.
It is like trying to insert a 5" floppy into today's computers. Its just not physically possible.
