    Toshiba 281c drivers

I have just acquired a 281c and am having trouble finding the correct drivers for it. PCL 6 does not print in colour and all others that say 281c seem to download the 451 or other machine software and will onto load onto my xp system.

    Any ideas?

ss12 is correct - 451C series covers your machine, PCL6 is for Black, PCL5 for Colour - Toshiba.com > Support & Downloads - follow the prompts for all drivers.

Many thanks Guys, for some reason the PCL5 would not print but managed it with the PSL3. The colours are a bit streaky, where should I go first.

More than likely it will need a new drum & a good service.the colours on this model were no great shakes even when new

First try a Calibration - Hold 0+5 > power on > enter 396 Start > press 4 then FAX button > put printout on Platen Glass (Black Blocks to Lead Edge) > enter 1642 Start > 4+7 Start > Printout on Glass > 1002 Start > 4+9 Start > Printout on Glass > 1000 Start - power off then on & try a colour print to see if that improves quality.

Service Mode > List Print > hold 9+Start > Power On > enter 103 > Start, this will printout a PM List of consumables - check if colour dev is more than 30K & Drum/Blade/Grid is more than 100K - replace.

                    Re: Toshiba 281c drivers

Unfortunately i have had the experience of this 'Revolving' beast of a machine.

Do to how it was designed, colour's aren't its strong point. More of a machine that does black with a few coloured letterheads or logos and such. Not designed for full scale colour images.

As mentioned previously, do some calibrations, check the counters on the consumables. I have come across many instances where the machine is primary used as a black and white printer and then a few colour copies are done and they look like crap due to the dev in the colour units going bad due to under use.

On a side note, when you open a few covers (I'm looking at you left hand cover) you can find some pretty amazing colours, just not where they are supposed to be.

Very messy machine although not as bad as the 2500/3500/3511 series. Nightmares lol.

                    My two cents xD

Another thing to check is the laser slit glass. You can take the awkward route and Remove the laser unit or remove the process unit and the black dev unit and clean the glass from there.
