    Toshiba 351c power failure message

Customer inherited this machine from somewhere. called saying this message was in the upper right corner. I am not a toshiba tech. Have searched the forums to no avail. Also calling for black toner. Supposedly previous owner says machine is "broke". Maybe just this message, dont know.

power failure = some stupid person (probably untrained on machine) turned off machine instead of shutting down properly. Hit clear button 2-3 times and it should go away and show date and time.
Add toner could be real or dirty sensor.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

That cleared the power message.....but as far as the toner goes, he says the black toner is full, but is calling for it....maybe a faulty cartridge? Thanks!

        Check if
        1. black developer unit is turning
        2. toner motor for black is turning in service mode
        3. black dev unit is disconnected.
        4. transport pipes for black toner are blocked with old toner...

It's very common on those machines for the drive gear on the black developer unit and the drive gear on the black dev. drive assembly to wear out. That would cause the machine to ask for new toner.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

this one may need to be told that the toner was changed. Hit User function>user>2nd page(i think) then change toner button hit black then open and close front door.

Customer tried this to no avail. He is two hours away from me and I do not service these.

              customer response:
Ok, I did a little more looking. The tube is supposed to spin to work the toner toward that sliding door I mentioned. I placed a small piece of tape connecting the tube to the copier frame to see if the tube was being spun as it tried to load. It was still in place after I went through the process you mentioned. It appears whatever motor or belt is supposed to drive that is not working.

So he says toner bottle is not spinning? Would this be the gear mentioned?

My statistic about not turning black toner is as follows.

Most cases it is SYS board. You have to flash firmware after replacement and some settings described in SM.
Only one case - after cleaning all the parts between toner bottle and black developer unit. It takes about 1 hour if You know what to do...
