E-281c Scanning issue

Ok so this 281c copies and prints fine.. no lightness or anything.. but when you scan to a desktop file it is way to light.. is there anyway to increase the darkness of scans to the desktop?? I tried 05-860 and it doesn't increase the darkness of scans to the files.. any help would be great..

Clean the optics? and calibrate the machine for copy and print?
