    280,282,283 copy quality problems

Hello, I am not toshiba trained but I have worked on toshiba for a long time. I am having a problem with Every and I mean Every 280 type machine we have. All have the same problem. PM machine with new drum ect and all looks great. Even as soon as a week I am back with copys with dark background, bands or copys gone light. In all cases if I put in another new drum it looks great again for a short while. I am using katun drums. They seem fine in other models but maybe the problem here? I have not herd of other people having all these cq probs so I dont know what is going on. I am not exagerating either, every one we have in this model lineup does the same thing. I am hoping someone else may have seen this and can help. Thanks

Do you reset the Drum, Grid & Charge Counter in 6+Start > 2 Mode?

It's definitely the Katun drums. We had the exact same problem with that series and had to pull them from all our machines. All the money we saved in drums we lost having to go back and put genuine Tosh drums in the machines.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

Thanks for the replies, and to canonbundy I did reset all the counters. I ordered some oem drums. I think that is where my problem is.

Also clean the dev/drum unit out with a hoover. I have had that kick me in the nuts a few times. People still give me funny looks. My main tools are my screwdriver and my hoover/seat.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

very true and there is a bushing on back side of drum that should be replaced with every new drum sometimes you don't notice it and it falls out

yes the vacuum is necessary to remove the paper dust I learned this the hard way the cleaning unit gets clogged with paper dust
