Toshiba estudio 850 fax from pc and scan to pc

I am having a bit of trouble well logging into the interface from the web... its not happening...
windows 7 and windows xp don't work... any ideas would be appreciated... I am thinking there may be a program to use for this... searching while we speak...

I am also having trouble faxing from the pc and the console...
I downloaded the fax driver and it seems well archaic... it only lets you set up fax recipients from fax preferences... and this must be done before you actually try to send the fax... no popups... am I doing this right?

I tried faxing from the console but got no response... maybe a bad fax line... will check out some more tomorrow...

needless to say... I am also having trouble setting up scan to folder on the machine...
since I was unable to get in the web browser... I tried the console and frankly couldn't make heads or tales of it... yes... I could get in with the admin password 123456 and yes I could see the scan to folder location... I could not update the location or add more locations... any help would be appreciated...

I do not believe the machine is at fault... I just believe I am not experienced enough with it to solve these issues... any help is appreciated...

If you can't fax from the machine directly, then faxing via the Fax driver isn't going to work either.

Make sure that you have your fax cable put into the "Line" socket and not the "TEL" socket. You can also try plugging a phone into the fax cable to make sure that you don't have a line issue.

As for the web interface, when you say trouble, do you mean you couldn't get in at all or the interface was unresponsive? If you can't get anything at all, then make sure that HTTP is turned on from the network settings in the machine. Turning off HTTP disables the web interface.

Until you get into the web interface, the only way you are going to be able to enter in SMB locations is via the Scan screen itself (assuming that the machine is setup to allow you to change locations). My advice, until you can get into the web interface, would be to use the "MFP Local" scan location which is an SMB share held locally on the device. You should be able to access it via \\<MACHINEIPADDRESS>\File_Share
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
