    No, totally incompatible. Sorry.

They're different boards. They physically fit in the same location, since the machines are physically nearly the same, but they are completely different boards electrically.

There are massive "behind the scene" differences between the DocuColor and WorkCentre lines... Electrically, they are totally different.

All the mechanical stuff is cross compatible, and the "simple" electrical items (like the drum motor driver board, developer driver board, etc) are compatible, but NONE of the logic boards are compatible. They run different software, and don't even have the same chips and circuit designs, so there is no way to make them compatible.

If you swapped the ESS AND the IOT AND the NVMs and the main driver board AND the document handler's board and its NVM you MIGHT be able to convert one into the other, but then you ALSO have to swap the display, because they are totally incompatible, too (and they plug into the ESS which is one reason you can't make one's ESS work in the other).

After changing ALL those parts, you wouldn't have a WorkCentre anymore, you'd have a DocuColor. And, that said, I don't know if it would even work anyway... There are probably some "gotcha" in there if you tried to convert one to the other. haha

So I basically would need to change all boards in the machine to get an result

Like I said, ALL the boards, AND the display, everything. And even then, I don't know if that would ultimately work. My gut tells me that somewhere along the line of changing all those parts out, you'd bump into a deal breaker type problem.

why the question? if the board in question is bad.. just replace it! even if you swapped out ALL boards and electronics there is no assurance that 1) it would work 2) all wiring harnesses are the same and pinned correctly.
