Good day all,
I think I know the answer to this situation, but I would like to throw this out to the world to see if anyone else has had this issue. This problem is regarding the 2/3 Hole punch unit on the Xerox WC 53xx series that has the LX Office Finisher. So any make/model that uses this same punch/Finisher may encounter the same issue.
We have a customer that has called in numerous times for "Hole Punch stopping in the middle of the job." We have had several techs inspect this issue before I took over and found no issue outside of the customer needing to empty the box before continuing. The issue began so escalated with the client, we replaced the Punch, the H Transport, then the finisher and finally replaced the whole machine in a show of good faith.
Well, now the same client is calling back in with the same issue. On the original machine/issue, I came to the conclusion that the machine would stop punching after it reached a certain number of punches and it determined the bin was full. The client explained that it would happen even when they only punched a few pages and they had just emptied the bin. I could never duplicate the issue and after swapping ever piece of equipment including the machine. I would assume the problem resolved. If the problem carried over to the new machine, it MUST be something the client is doing. But I can not for the life of me determine what it is.
I am onsite right now and I just watched exactly 259 pages pass through the machine and punch correctly. The bin was full, I emptied it and the proceeded to test it again.
I know this issue sounds crazy, and even asking for advice feels silly. But I am completely at a loss as to what to tell our client. I have explained the situation a number of times, researched every tech tip and combed over manuals to see if there is anything.
Has ANYONE had anything remotely close to this kind of situation that was resolved mechanically?
