from my understanding the CMY drums do rotate during mono K prints.
and with a mixed color/mono job it with use all 4 colors for 3 clicks at a time. (so if the job was 15 clicks and one page inside the job was color the billing usage would result in +12 black +3 color, you may notice the 2 other pages that were supposed to be mono actually used a 4 color K)
