    Turn off the copier
    Remove power cord
Remove scanner-printer cable from printer unit
    Remove back cover from printer
    Remove metallic back cover
You'll see a round yellow or orange battery on a electronic board
For at least ten seconds you must put shortcircuit between + and - terminals of that battery
Reconnect the scanner-printer cable and the power cord
    Turn on the copier.

For the dead copier you must check the low voltage power supply ( LVPS )

I think adriansto is correct in the most part here. I haven't worked
on xerox machines for a while but I do remember this problem and
I remember it is one of only 3 solutions.

The problem is caused by the machines main power being turned off
(ie: power cut or plug removed from socket) in the middle of a
print or copy or fax operation.

What is happening is that the machine is trying to print a "POWER OFF" report. But if certain conditions are not correct it will not print and you
will get nothing but the "X" Logo moving from left to right and then repeat
      over and over again

This is a software error that the machine had when Xerox built it
and they knew it still had it when it was released on sale, but because it
was too exensive to fix the problem they just sold it with the problem
and hoped it wouldn't happen to often. (HOW WRONG THEY WERE!!!)

The 3 solutions to try are!

      1. Put the paper in all trays in the A4R position.(Don't forget the machine is trying to print a "POWER OFF REPORT" and it will only print it on A4 paper in the reduction/landscape position. (short edge feed) to speak in xerox terms.

(although it might also be worth trying to change all trays to A4 long edge feed just in case the default for the "POWER OFF REPORT" has been changed to that. Unlikely but it's easy to check and rule out as a cause.)

      2. To try the solution mentioned above by adriansto BUT with the exception that the negative terminal of your multimeter must be connected to Terminal point "TP1" on the main logic board

      3. The machine software will have to be reloaded which is a real pain in the tits and takes a very long time.
