Detonation and xcopytech - BRAVO! It worked! I've contacted Xerox, numerous Xerox tech departments - as well as my own IT guy (a 3-hr RT drive away) , who - while not specializing in Xerox, can certainly kick their tires and bang on the hood. But NO ONE could come up with anything that worked - until YOU bailed me out! Can't thank you enough, and when I have a little spare time, I'll continue to work on the problem of not being able to connect with my CWIS - though via the console, everything is now as it should be... but at least for now, I can print copies - though only by populating a thumbdrive with them and plugging it into the console.Leave a comment:

Thanks very much,Detonation - I'll give it a try when I'm in my office later this afternoon. I appreciate your response very much.Leave a comment:

Take an empty USB stick (4 or 8 GB work reliably in my experience). Make a directory called ALTBOOT. In the directory, put in the following files:- the software (.DLM) file
- an empty text file with name FORCED_UPGRADE (no file extension!)
- an empty text file with name DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP (no file extension!)

Now there you've got me - I have no idea how to perform a <forced> altboot. Please explain?Leave a comment:

Even better is to perform forced altboot so if your machine have same software level as altboot software it will be overwriten with new softwareLeave a comment:

Workcentre 7855 totally shut me out...
First forgive me as I'm a newbie and an amateur tech by necessity just to keep my equipment up and running in our remote High Sierra area. I checked the forum for any previous posts on this topic and saw nothing - so here goes:
I bought a used XEROX Workcentre 7855 a couple years ago for my non-profit. I've used it with only minor problems in that time, but while trying to set it up for faxing via the CWIS portal, I must have checked or unchecked the wrong box by accident, because now, I cannot log into the online portal (it always times out) and the machine's console gives me the startup screen for as long as ten minutes before giving me the "turn machine on/off - and if that fails, call Admin" - screen. That's it. I can't access the machine at all, and have the feeling I may have disabled the TCP/IP via the CWIS, and now - machine and portal are unreachable.
Feel free to heap abuse on me - but ONLY if you have a possible solution, please! Thanks very much and I'm really delighted to have found this forum.Tags: None
