- Hi. The integrated Fiery on our C60 has started getting into a mode of crashing then not being able to boot up. It seems to get stuck in a mode of constantly trying to boot, but never doing so. So we'll hear the fans start spinning for maybe a second or two, then it quits. Then a few seconds/minutes later, it tries again, then repeat. We occasionally see a flash on the display, but too quick to even read. Every now & then it will go a bit further, maybe 5-10 seconds of trying to boot, then quits. Disconnecting network cables didn't do anything. The power button on back does not light up, and pressing & holding it doesn't seem to do anything either, neither getting it to stop trying to boot or fully booting. So we eventually have to turn the power supply switch off to get it to stop.
After the first instance of this, and it sitting for a few days and first disconnecting the network cables, it did eventually fully boot up and show '00' on display. So we were able to access it via Command Workstation, verify that all latest software patches had been installed, and even do a backup of the configuration files so we'd have this going forward. As it initially got stuck in the boot loop after installing the latest security patch, we weren't sure if that caused corruption. But then when then trying to print to it, the Fiery just suddenly shut down out of nowhere and got stuck in the boot loop mode again.
We disconnected everything and opened the box up, took the battery out for a couple minutes, and re-seated the memory. But it just won't seem to boot now, even when just plugged into power outlet and nothing else. We do have a dedicated A/C circuit for the C60 & Fiery to plug into.
We did create a USB Boot Drive with the latest v2.1 software on it. But just thinking that since it won't power up, this might not work either.
- Let us know what troubleshooting steps we can take to narrow down the issue.
We are not on a support contract currently, so we'd have to pay Xerox or anyone else to come out and help debug. In our past experience, the Xerox techs were not nearly as familiar with the Fiery as with the C60, so want to do as much as we can first. 'Seems' like a hardware issue, most likely power supply or maybe hard drive?!? Just need to narrow down.
