    dc250 touch screen

    Hi
I have UI touch screen on dc 250 that doesn't react on touch.
ADJ 4.1 UI Touch Panel Origin Point Correction doesn't help. On first screen nothing happens when touch intersections. But if press stop button it goes to Touch screen Mode (3rd screen) and it reacts on touch, and small black square is displayed 3cm above the place I touched screen.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

It's the easiest way to replace, but can I fix it somehow?

Take the front bezel off and try cleaning the surface edges of the screen . I saved one 1 time by doing that.

there is no way to save them
          you have to change it
its a common problem on all the touch screens

            Thanks folks

I'll sure try cleaning that screen. Usually we change that screens, but customer with this bad screen told me that one of his friends abroad is fixing that very easily (He doesn't know how)
Something like he is reloading software on one card that is inside the screen
I was very skeptical and that's way I posted this question.

            Thanks again

If that was the case xerox would advise their techs to reload software
What they tell the techs is that it's a manufacturing defect

                Xerox 7300 touch screens

Lots of our touchscreens are going out on the 7300 series. According to Xerox you have to replace the whole panel ($700.00) when the screens go out. We are taking off the screens, soaking them, cleaning them etc. Last for a while, Anyone have a source just for the touch screens? Thanks

                      Re: dc250 touch screen

It suffers from bad connection of contact film around the touch panel .
So first thing take the touch panel element off the control panel screen.
All the bellow explanation is referring only for surrounding (frame) of touch screen where the X,Y contacts are (no need and is dangerous to apply heat anywhere else )

I used heater ( in my case Heater used for desoldering IC). Apply heat on the entire length (be carefull not to melt the film, how much that's a bit tricky) and use your fingers as your gluing it.
Mostly pay attention to corner joints you should heat them up and hold them with your fingers a bit more so it can make good contact and at last the contacts of the strip that goes to connector. Shame i didn't take picture. Next time first thing with a little tutorial.

                        Thanks mate,
Already got the same information. Now with your confirmation, i'm going to (try) fix it on that way.

                        Pictures would be great

Fast update made from pic from internet . Black lined are areas where should the heat be applied. Not anywhere else!!!!

Some need more some less to be heated never will now how much is enough .
It works 100% when you get in to it!
It is doing pretty well now 10 months on my personal machine.

I have bin a bit retired in last 2 years in servicing (it was my primary job before) . I always enjoy in this tricky things since old days
It was fun to see customers face back then when converting analog 5437 series touch panel from english to my native language.

                              cheers!
