DC6060 software upgrade required

Dear All,
i am facing problem in dc fault code 6-390 as per manual and eurika tips fault is cpu pwb software installation required. i need parallel port adaptor to upgrade software for parellal cable. can any one help me i need this tool i will pay for tool or can exchange xerox stuff.

In other words you want to reload the IOT software and you need driver for lpt1

yes i want to reload iot software but i required parallel port adaptor which is must required to reload software and it will connect with parallel cable.

You should be able to use a USB to Parallel adapter.

yes i can use usb to parllel but what about parellel adaptor ?
please see the bellow note it is in software reload instructions.


CAUTION:
Before starting the Download, ensure that the parallel port adapter tool is connected and the parallel and serial
cables are properly connected to the PWS and PWB.


can you explain this there is also tool part# availbe in installation instructions notes.

Procedure
CAUTION
The parallel cable must be connected or PWB failure can occur
during the download.
1. Connect the parallel and serial cables between the PWS and the
machine. The Parallel Port Adapter Tool (600T2262) must be
connected between the Parallel cable and the PWS or System
PWB failures will occur.
2. Plug the PWS into an AC power source to prevent a loss of
battery power during the software download.

As far as i know the "parallel adapter tool" is the parallel cable. It may be talking about a USB to parallel interface because many xerox PWSs don't have parallel ports anymore. You can pick up a USB to parallel cable and driver disk from Radio Shack or any other electronics store...ie Fry's electronics.
I haven't used the USB to parallel but have used the USB to serial, my laptop has a parallel port on the back.

i have both ports serial and parllel in my dell610 laptop but confused now after read above instructions.

There isn't any adapter. Just use the parallel cable.

Just plug those cables into laptop and machine. Xerox likes to give their names to common stuff.

Thanks for your support. did u ever face this fault code in 6060 it was working fine and after weekend when powered on get this code 6.390 rap is not helped but in eurika tips there is mentioned rap wil not help for this fault code. need to replace cpu pwb and reload or upgrade software.

I believe that is a laser problem. Try swapping the Halftone C PWB with the Halftone K PWB and see if the error code changes. If it does then it is the halftone C PWB that is the problem.

When you troubleshoot a machine you need to read the service manual AND technical bulettins.
600T2262 = is adapter for IBM 423 and DELL 640 laptops. There are some problems with PWS and parallel ports of these laptops.
Also many problems with USB to parallel adapter on old machines.
For 6-390 you must check IOT CPU MEM Pwb Assy. Do a good cleaning of contacts of flash rom from this pwb. If there are any faults associates with 6-390 check thermistors from fuser and the wires from thermistors to IOT Pwb

If all of these not work then you need to replace IOT CPU MEM Pwb Assy and reload sw.

i swapped pwbs but fault code did not changed.

yes it is cpu pwb fault i removed and reinstalled but problem is still existing but one more daout as you said before that fault most of the i faced 10.310/330 codes but after some tries to open and closed transport draw fault goes off. i'll check thermistor and fuser wiring tommorow first and also clean eprom s you said.

i tried to repalce the fuser assy and also clean MEM pwb but fault is still exisiting. one more thing if problem is with fuser thermistor ? when i open the transport draw then fault code should be clear ?

tommorow i'll reload software then get you back.
