Is there a disgnostic routine for the Professional Finisher?

I have inherited a DC250 with the professional finisher and I am going to spend some $$ on it if I can it working reliably. At the moment, the finisher is jamming just as the paper enters the stapler - flap 6. I am 90% sure it's some sort of sensor issue as the pathway is clear and if I rotate the drive handles then the paper goes through OK. I bypassed the door safety to observe and just before it jams it makes a sort of grrr noise and then it stops. I have compared it to the same finisher I have on my 242 and the 1c drive handle feels a little stiffer but it spins OK when it's running. When I test the paper path microswitches they all behave themselves insomuch as the printer reports paper jam at each sensor point.

There is nothing in the way or jammed in there - if I manually feed paper in the bottom and rotate the handles then it follows the paper path OK.

Is there a diagnostic routine available or a way of finding out why it's jamming?

    Thanks!

Just to add to the confusion A4 SEF and A3 SEF run through fine - it's just A4 LEF that jams

Probably the clutch in the rear. I see it all the time. It looks like a small silver motor. or the gear shafts have worked away form one another.

From the rear of the pro fin remove the top right panel to reveal the gear assembly.

If you determine the cause I will send you one, just pay for shipping. I have a grave yard of finishers that shipping companies have destroyed.
