US Employment?

Howdy all, just wanted to seek some advice if anyone has been in a similar situation with trying to relocate to the US from another country / sponsored work VISA.

I am currently in Australia and have been trying to make some inroads with Konica Minolta overseas with absolutely no communication back or an acknowledgement email. Maybe I am chasing the wrong path as I don't know how the US market works or its mostly just dealers?

Basically I have been with Konica Minolta for over 11 years and worked my way up to the top tech levels. I tend to specialise in escalated IT issues / Solutions and also 3D products such from 3Dsystems but we are all expected to still do the usual tech stuff with very broad roles.

Any help would be great I travel to the US a lot and have many friends over there and I hope to settle down there one day

Here Konica Minolta has a large corporate presence. They compete with dealers to sell their own product. It's an odd arrangement for sure.

But we're not lawyers who can answer visa questions. Check out the open jobs and contact either the specific branch or someone at Konica US headquarters in Ramsey, New Jersey.

I would focus on 3d systems knowledge. More money, growing industry, great training and less competitive industry.

Might as well be a machinist. There's no technical correlation between copier tech and 3d..but if your company sells both that's a quick foot in the door

A machinist? Have you ever seen a production 3d printer?
Considering the majority of multi jet fusion 3d devices utilize inkjet technology primarily to create a print Id say that a guy with wide format experience has the perfect repair experience. Ive never sold a 3d printer or a copier to a machinist.

The design and materials knowledge would put in much closer to machining that what we do.
Also say if you can follow that go for it.

Lost of fun doing CAD and CAM related stuff.
Been throwing all my time into electronic repair and design, 3D design and 3D printing.
Built my second CNC machine. Much more satisfying.

But printers still pays the bills!

Are you allowed to go for interviews on a holiday VISA?
One company suggested i go over for an interview...
Could not afford to do that at the time.

The thing with these machines are they are reliable, even the cheap Chinese machines.
Very little moving parts and easy to identify faults with experience.
There would be more opportunity in consultation or operating and post processing than repair.
Most machinist i have encountered is very curios about new technologies.

Still much more efficient to cast(mold) and machine than to 3D print for industry.
There is great developments in that direction. Especially prosthetic parts.

Regardless, Again I would choose a different path coming to the United States in search of a job in a already razor thin profit margin driven industry.
Especially KMBS that like stated above, eats its own during RFPs

Thanks everyone for all the replies already, it is much appreciated and I don't expect anyone to help out with VISA legalities etc, it is just more of a general question if someone has done it already or how things work in the US.

From my understanding you can as long as you are truthful with immigration about your intentions and don't actively work for renumeration. I usually visit each year on a ESTA but from a legal point of view I want to keep everything above board of course.

I have been trying to diversify my skillset over the last few years to open up options in the US and 3D is definitely one area I am looking at. Love the field also and the machinery in general but also split some of my time with solutions such as Ysoft or Papercut but IT seems to be a dime a dozen these days.

I have been lucky to get in early on the 3D side of things in Australia and gain experience in filament, resin, wax and power deposition machines / technologies.

The future definitely is in 3D in Australia with the great margins on consumables. Eventually 3D has the potential to replace many machinist roles as using an additive process is far more efficient than removing material.
