Figured as much, thank you for the advice and i will try to strip past the PCB blind as the service manual doesn't cover that part.

Check the mechanism for releasing the developer joints is working correctly. Most likely it is broken or out of alignment. When you open the top cover this mechanism retracts the development joints and releases the drum locks. Unfortunately it is behind the main PCB and main drive assy on the left of the machine. Hello,

I've just started to learn about brother machines and i have an issue with the drums.

I've opened the lid however they are still engaged thus disallowing me to removed the toner and drum unit, i've tried manually disengaging with a spring hook but no dice.

If you are able to help i would appreciate it very much.
