    Brother MFC 3770cdw Copy Quality Black Smudges

    Brother MFC 3770cdw printing black smudges. The smudges are only on left side of page. The black marks happen 10 times down the page. They are about 1 inch apart, and about 3 inches wide. Have replace toner and drum with OEM brother cartridges. Cleaned transfer belt, and led units above each cartridge. Any ideas? Thanks.IMG_0274.jpg

      I would start by printing CMYK test pages from service mode.

          I did do a color test pattern test. The problem is with the black cartridge. The colors are ok. Of course I got black marks on all patterns. Thanks.

              I would check the fuser for damaged rollers.

                      the repeating pattern would indicate the toner roller/cartridge

                      PS: there's a "diameter" list in all brother service manuals, pretty helpful

                          The pitch whichappears in the image:
                          - Develop roller of the toner cartridge 29 mm
                          - Exposure drum of the drum unit 94.5 mm
                          - Heat roller of the fuser unit 78.5 mm
                          - Pressure roller of the fuser unit 78.5 mm

                          About 1 inch pattern is closest to Develop roller.

                              Thanks for your reply. I have determined the problem is with the mag roller in the toner cartridge. After trying two toner cartridges, checking and cleaning contact points it may be the HVPS not sure. Maybe I should try a third cartridge for good measure. Thanks again.
