Cant access web interface for brother mfc-665cw

    Dear Experts

I have a brother mfc-665cw connected wired to my netgear router.

I assigned a static ip address to the printer

From a desktop (windows 7 ultimate) I can ping the printer and I can print as well ,,,means desktop can talk to the printer.

But whenever I typed in the right ip address for the printer in 3 different browsers (error message: page could not be displayed!!!!)

I disabled the firewall and Antivirus (Micro Trend) same problem persisted .

What other troubleshooting should I do ?

    Regards

How many forums did you spam with this problem? Does this printer even have a web interface? Obviously, you have a setting wrong, or there is no web interface.

Heres a number to help you: 1-877-BROTHER (877-276-8437)

Since you are sick and you have practiced spamming before you would think all posters like you spammer.

I have posted this question to couple of forums to seek their help, till now I have not got an answer either they are busy with their works or they don't have a proper answer.

If you have answer ,,,answer the question rather than refer me to the brother website it may take ages to solve the issue.,,,,this would the last resort

No sir, I am not a spammer - but I see an End User when I see one. Or at least a very amateur tech, who depends on others to do all the work for him. Have you even opened a Service Manual or User Guide on this unit? (I'm suprised our infamous manual seller friend hasn't chimed in to offer you the parts and service guide for $12.99)

And I did not refer you to a brother website, I gave you their end-user help phone number.

Obviously, you have eclipsed the limits of your capability, and need to hire a tech to help you out - which is the purpose of this site, where Techs share information.

This one is too obvious, it is either your network configuration is incorrect somewhere, or the unit does not have a web interface - the chances that the printer is bad are minimal, since you can ping and print.

Waste of the time replying you

          This is not the case

You are really fishing for "the answer" to your issue. If your network configuration IS good, then what have you overlooked, or do you not have the facilities or experience to realize is "the answer"?

All of the FACTS have been listed, now use your process of elimination and critical thinking to synthesize a hypothesis or solution based on what has been presented.

Perhaps you need a service manual or a parts list. Or need to hire someone with the right knowledge!

I realize you may not want to hire someone to fix a $199 Brother inkjet, but - speaking of "waste of time" - in three minutes I was able to determine the source of your issue, by using resources you have either not accessed or even attempted to use. How much time did you spend trying to get "the answer" on several forums, and how much time did you waste trying to find "the answer" without starting from the beginning - where any real tech would?

"The Answer" is already in the confines of this thread, but you are too filled with pride to look at a manual and verify that I am correct.

This is a failing of many amateur techs, refusing to do their own research even for the most minor issues.

When I am free I will reply to your comment

              Edit
              -----
First of all I am not a printer tech guru, yes I am a network experienced tech.

Although I have checked the ip address and gateway and subnet masks If I can ping the printer that indicates the ip address is correct , otherwise desktop would not be to ping it .

Second I did not have a service manual for each single printer, and normally the user guide doesn't state this problem, yes it might troubleshoot other issues which is not my case .

Third, if you do not know exactly what to do, please refrain from answering.
Ominous answers such as "this MIGHT be a prolem" are not very helpful. They do not help and they ultimately fall in the "MIGHT not help" category.I appreciate your desire to help, but if you're not sure, please do not answer.

I am absolutely sure what the problem is, and I know exactly what to do - but, you, being an experienced network tech, should be able to figure this one out. I have ALREADY stated it, and if you went and took a look at the USER MANUAL or the QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE, you would see what is MISSING.

And why am I just not giving you "the answer"? Because I, along with all of the other techs here on this site and others you have visited, make their money by providing answers and technical expertise in this field - just like I would pay you if I wanted to set up a WAN and Domain for an organization. Would you do it for free, especially for someone who refused to help you open a box or read a user guide?

Look, read between the lines here - the answers are in front of you (or missing from) in the USER MANUAL and QUICK SETUP GUIDE.
