gp215 lamp carriage not function properly

who has come across this problem, please give me the solution.
this gp215 has no memory, meaning that, it has to scan multiple times when it is making multiple copies for a single original. now the problem is, for example, when i want to make 5 copies A4 portrait for a single original, i placed the original on the platen glass, i press 5, and press start. it start to scan the original, until the third scan, the lamp carriage will stop just right after the tail edge of the original(it is in the center of platen glass). 1 second or 2, it will move to the right hand side until the end and vibrate itself and then it stop. no error codes are shown.

It sounds like the scanner is having a hard time getting back to home position after each scan, it thinks it got back home after the scan, but it never moved, then it continues on the the right to do the next scan.

Clean the rails real good. Then try replacing the scanner motor.

Hi .. I would say another tech is right.. However i would recommend changing the motor driver pcb at the same time..
Another thing I have seen is if the scanner is reading the original as a LTR size it will take 3 copies before the machine realises the scanner and printer are out of sink. Cant exactly remember the jam sequence as it only ever happened on old analogue machines and its been a while .. Irish
