Got a strange one here, to me anyway.. This machine is responding very slow, almost like a pc that is bogged down. You press a button on the screen and it will beep about 5 seconds later. Sending a fax, it will scan one page every 20 seconds or so. It will recieve a fax and then not print it for 2 minutes. Just different things. There are no codes at all. It locks up the screen for a few minutes sometimes. When powering down and back up, it takes 3 minutes to boot up, but no codes. I'm figuring the HDD is going out. Anyone seen this happen? Told the customer to hold 19 and turn it on, so now it has the blinking curser at the top. What will happen when this repair ends? will it say ready or anything. I told her it may take a while, but how do we know when it's finished doing its thing? thanks

When you do an hdd defrag it scans the hdd and looks for bad spots and it will fill the whole screen with that white block and when it is finished it will try to repair the bad spots in the hdd. this will take some time and when it is finished it will reboot

Title : Machine is slow when faxing Problem :
When sending out a fax with the DADF, the machine will sit for 5 to 10 seconds before scanning the page to be faxed. The machine just sits there. No sound, no movement, none of the buttons respond on the control panel. The machine does not jam or show any error codes. The machine works fine when copying from the glass or with the DADF.

    Solution :
Faulty hard drive. Tried formatting the hard drive and reloading software with no change in the problem. Replaced the hard drive. Part number WM2-5230-000.
