    canon iR3300 cannot fax out

    model: Canon iR3300
    problem: cannot fax out

I have a problem with a Canon iR3300 Fax function.
it is connected to a PABX. tested the fax line and it is
working. the machine was tested in the workshop and
it is working. the machine can recieve fax, but cannot
send. it will just prompt "busy / no signal". i changed
the fax unit but to no avail.

i have found a workaround, after pressing the fax,
must press the "on hook" button first, key-in the recipient
fax number and then press "send" (green button).
however, this will not work when your using "PC to FAX".

    any suggestions?

Have you tried inserting a few pauses after the "9" to increase your chances of getting a connection within the 35 second T1 timer? You can also add some pauses after the phone number to extend the time of the T1 timer. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hane you tried plugging in an analog phone and just listen to what you get when you dial? There may be a bad card in the PBx. =^..^=

            SOLUTION

Remove the jumper on the fax board AND switch on the machine.
it will pop a error .
never mind ,switch off again and put the jumper back and
switch the machine on and try faxing, it wll work out.

            ALL THE BEST

Most likely the problem is with the quality of the phone line, not the hardware.

I don't know if you've listened to the quality of the line, but not all line quality issues are within human hearing range. Additionally, dropouts are the absence of signal so there's nothing to hear, literally.

My advise is to get the customer's telephone service provider involved. =^..^=

                  Fax Issue

First did you check the fax board for a dial tone? On the Fax Tab, select on-hook and listen for a dial tone. I know some of these suggestions are the basics but need mentioned.

Second, make sure the customer is NOT using DSL service on that line. I have found this issue many times; customer gets DSL installed and no filter is placed on the line for fax.

Third ask the customer if they require a special number, i.e. 9, for an outside line before dialing your number. Also check to see if a palse (P) is needed, not usual but you could encounter this in some locations. Check your dialing rules for your area. Sometimes the number 1 before the phone number needs to be dialed, i.e. 1-888-8888.

Forth if you need to, perform an ALL CLEAR in service mode. On most models I think the procedure is:
                  1. Enter Service Mode.
                  2. Select Fax, select Clear, and select All.
Clearing the board will FIX a lot of issues!

Last...reset your fax board! Sometimes the shifting and banging around of the equipment during delivery can make a bad contact with your fax board.

Good luck, and please let us know what fixed your issue.

ok, so i went to the customer place and bring 1 stand alone fax machine.
                      send / receive both ok

                      @blackcat4866
I plug in an analog phone, listened to the line and didnt find anything unusual.

                      @creatinchaos
so i went back to the 3300, do a "clear all" then setting for sssw, num and type.
                      send failed
                      receive ok

                      @ps/pcl
remove the jumpers and received E674, clear then put again.
                      send failed
                      receive ok

now my senior decided to change the machine and try to solve the problem in the workshop if we can still recreate the same problem.
                      thanks to all!

Not exactly the same machine (ours was a 2230) or exact same issue (ours would fail to TX and lock the system) but:

We cleared the 3 sectors on the HD used by the system for memory storage, and it now works. Would not hurt anything to try:

                        1. Service Mode
                        2. Function>System
                        3. CHK-TYP (enter 1) then ok - will get active&ok
                        4. Chk-TYP (enter 2) ...
                        5. CHK-TYP (enter 3) ...
                        6. System should do a recycle/reboot. If not, do a power cycle.

If any of the CHKs do not get an OK, you will need to replace the HD & system software.
