    gp405

i have accidently shorted one of the fusing exit sensor's wire to the machine body.
now it show a massage " close front cover" when i swith it on[the cover is properly closed], then a error code 805 pop out.
there must be a electrical board defective.I wonder which board is spoiled.
    someone can tell me???

You have lost one of the DC voltages from the power supply, probably 5vdc or 24vdc. The 805 code is a fan error code, so I would suspect 24vdc.

If you're lucky you might have a blown fuse on the power supply. Canon does not put many fuses on their power supplies, so you'll probably have to replace it. You can meter out the outputs from the power supply to determine which output is missing.

There is a more remote possibility that you toasted the main controller. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You have placed the same request for information in multiple threads. This practice of placing a request at the end of a dead thread is not a good way to get the information you seek.

Create a new thread! That way you will get a better level of response. And instead of posting in all these old threads, take the time to read the replies...

I have already given you detailed advice on how to accomplish the task....

Sorry for that. Junior tech was afraid to ask me first. He'll be killed and thrown to the pigs.

Anyway. I have e677 on two machines. A customer send something for print and machine printed few sheets, than three blank sheets and than e677. I dig out old gp 405 of mine that worked fine a year ago, connect network cable, turn it on, print some jobs and then e677. Am I lucky or what? Is printer board dead or system software brokes?

One more thing. Printer board can format HDD but can't boot or run system setup.
              Cheers

I make the attempt at recovery in the manner I described first, but if this fails, I then go to plan B and see, as you did, if I have a donor I can tap for a replacement. Plan C is more expensive, had to go that route a couple times this past year, and call up Hytec, or Nationwide to see if they had any servers rebuilt. I have heard of people replacing the hard drives, probably an old working one out of a 2200 would work. The old copiers are pretty reliable, but there comes a time when we need to get our customers to move into the next decade, and buy some new technology...

                Good luck!
