    Canon IR-2800 fax activity report

This machine prints out the fax activity report daily and my customer want
    to shut it off.
The problem is the fax was removed before they purchased the unit.
And that selection under system settings is no longer available.
I have looked through the book a couple of times looking for a clue as
    to where that is stored.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what can I do to make it stop?

    Thanks

It's understandable that they want it shut off.

You could try using SST to format the hdd and reload system software. That might work. I don't think there's an easier way to uninstall accessories on this machine.

Correct. See Chapter 7 of the Facsimile user guide. Go to Additional Functions, Report Settings, Fax. Custom settings is written above fax in this entry of the guide.

If you can't see this then installing a fax kit or formatting the hdd and reinstalling system software would be the quickest ways to try and fix the problem in my opinion.

Naturally important user settings should be noted down if going down the route of formatting the hdd.

I believe that Canon expects that normally if a fax board is removing from a working machine or some other accessory, it is because the accessory is faulty and that the accessory will be replaced.

Here's something that might work. Go to Service Mode. Copier, Function, System, CHK-TYPE. Select it, enter the number 2 for general file storage area. General file storage area includes user settings data, log data, PDL spool data and image data.

Select HD-CLEAR. This will initialise the partition selected in CHK-TYPE.

See page 5-81T of the service manual

Make sure any important user settings are noted down so that they can be re-entered easily.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast,
11X17, you maybe right, but I could not get to that screen through
additional features as one normally would.
bnmand, I will have a look at what you mentioned about the hard drive
check. I have not yet downloaded any firemare into any machine and
am not quite sure how to proceed.
I may have or know where to find the service support tool. I may even
have the system firmware I will check my files today and start gearing
up to do downloads. I may have to do it on others in the future.

            Thanks I'll post my results
